Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, urged the Federal House of Representatives-elect and Speakership aspirant, Tajudeen Abbass, as well as members-elect from other parties to further deepen their engagements and ensure the leadership reflects the yearnings of the people.

Sanwo-Olu said this when Abbass led members-elect from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, on a courtesy visit to him at Lagos House, Marina.

He also called on them to ensure their engagement was total, transparent and inclusive, saying they needed to do more to carry others along, as people would not settle for anything less than the best from the leadership of the 10th Assembly.

Sanwo-Olu also advised them to embrace constructive representation to ensure “Nigerians enjoy the dividends of democracy.”

Abbas thanked the governor for his support, promising they would make a resolution to put in place a vibrant structure, cross-fertilise ideas, be neutral, as the “sanity of the parliament is not negotiable.”

Also speaking, the Deputy Speakership aspirant, Benjamin Kalu, presenting Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State, said the “governor is a rally point in the party as he has been steady in stabilising the economy,” adding that they had reached out to the opposition to have diversity- sensitive leadership that could project institutional trust.
