Sights, sounds at the #MeistersExpressionFestival in Enugu

Enugu was buzzing with excitement as premium liqueur brand Jägermeister hosted the second edition of its iconic Meisters Expression Festival in the Coal City on Sunday 9th and Monday, 10th April 2023.

The Michael Okpara square was transformed into a hub for the celebration of arts and culture, embodying the Jägermeister spirit of challenging conventions through positive transformation.

The festival was a fusion of art, fashion, music, and food, showcasing local and international talent. Here’s a recap of what went down:

The After Dark Concert
The first day kicked off with the After Dark Concert at 10 pm. Legendary media personality and member of the Meister Tribe, Denrele Edun, welcomed guests and engaged them in exciting interviews on the green carpet. The green carpet was a sight to behold, with its unique appearance featuring outfits exclusively designed by the renowned fashion designer, Tevriss, who is also a member of the Meisters tribe. The space was artistically decorated with creatively placed graffiti adding an extra touch of avant-garde to the overall ambience. The electrifying performances from Jeriq D’Hustla, Whitemoney, DJ Gigi Jasmine, Zinoleesky, and other indigenous and well-known acts left the audience wanting more.

HighLife and Grill Festival
The second day of the festival was even more spectacular than the first. Jägermeister blended the rich culture of highlife music and sumptuous food for the Highlife and Grill festival. There was an array of activities across every inch of Michael Okpara Square to keep guests entertained. Guests were mesmerized by the high-tempo performances of The Cavemen to the musical genius of The Compozers. Legendary Koko Master D’banj also enthralled guests as he closed the event.

In addition to the musical performances, guests were also treated to magical displays and a fusion of Samba, Capoeira, and contemporary dances by international acts, Fantasy Box and Azul. Their costumes left the audience in awe and added color to the event. The turntable skills of Commissioner DJ Wysei, another Meisters Tribe member, and SlowDogg were also showcased, with back-ups from hypemen Switice, Lordell, and Cross Da Boss.

Whitemoney, a Meister, wowed attendees by showcasing his renowned culinary skills during a live cooking session, assisted by Melanie Weaver, and dished out delectable meals to excited fans. The night was filled with liveliness and energy as guests enjoyed fantastic Jagermeister cocktails all night, adding to the overall enjoyment of the event.

The Meisters
The Meisters added that icy-Kuhl touch with their otherworldly presence at the After Dark and Highlife and Grill festival. Amongst the meisters in attendance include Denrele Edun, Tevriss, Pharoah Hound Tattoos, The Weaver Sisters, Commissioner DJ Wysei, and Whitemoney. It was an unforgettable experience for those lucky enough to be there to meet and party with their faves in person.
