Minister of Trade, Industry and Investments, Doris Uzoka-Anite, has urged stronger ties between the public and private sector operators.

Speaking at the start of her four-day tour of manufacturing industries in the country, which kicked off on Monday, the minister said stronger relations between the two sectors were needed to grow the economy.

The minister visited some industries in Lagos, Ogun and Kano states.
She also said the tour would include visits to governors of identified states to strengthen the relationship between the federal and state government.

“The aim is to draw attention to the amazing work being done in our manufacturing sector and how it affects our daily lives and economy. It is also to show the government’s steadfast backing for key sectors of the economy and our dedication to ongoing cooperation for expansion and advancement,” she said.

She noted that the visit is to also highlight the commitment of employees and manufacturing workers that form the core of these businesses, creating superior made-in-Nigeria products that can confidently compete with foreign goods in the international market. The minister said: “This is a significant step towards recognising the hard work and achievements of this sector. It’s also a call to action for further innovation, quality improvement, and competitiveness in the global market. The tour is more than just a collection of stops; it serves as a link between the aspirations of the government and the realities of the manufacturing industry. It is a recognition of the industry’s contribution to innovation.

“Stepping into the illustrious Dangote Sugar Refinery was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Witnessing firsthand the innovative processes and unwavering dedication to excellence showcased here was truly remarkable. We also visited MRS and BUA, adding to the rich tapestry of experiences within Nigeria’s vibrant manufacturing sector. These visits further highlighted the diverse excellence and impactful contributions of companies shaping our nation’s industrial landscape.

“Exploring leading manufacturing companies like the Nigerian Bottling Company, Niger Biscuits Co. Ltd, and Beloxxi Industries Ltd among others, has shed light on the incredible work being done within our country’s manufacturing sector. I am thrilled and honored to continue this voyage, unveiling the incredible contributions of our manufacturing sector to the fabric of our nation.”
